The Flinn Scholarship is one of the most prestigious and competitive fully funded undergraduate opportunities in the United States. Valued at more than $135,000, this merit-based award is designed to keep Arizona’s best and brightest students within the state. Unlike partial grants, the Flinn Scholarship covers the total cost of education at Arizona’s top-tier public universities. Eligibility Criteria

To be among the 20 students selected annually for the Flinn Scholarship, you must meet these high standards:

  • Academic Excellence: Must maintain at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA and rank in the top 5% of your graduating class.

     
  • Test Scores: A minimum score of 26 on the ACT or 1230 on the SAT is required.

     
  • Residency: Must be an Arizona resident for at least two years prior to entering the university.

     
  • Citizenship: Open to Domestic Students (U.S. Citizens or Lawful Permanent Residents).

     
  • Leadership: Applicants must demonstrate significant leadership and active involvement in extracurricular activities or community service.

Application Process

  • Step 1: Registration: Create an account on the Flinn Foundation official application portal when it opens in late August.

  • Step 2: Essays & Short Answers: Complete two comprehensive essays and one short-answer question that showcase your character, leadership, and vision for the future.

     
  • Step 3: Document Submission: Ensure your high school counselor uploads your official transcripts and that your two recommenders (one teacher and one counselor/peer leader) submit their reports online.

  • Step 4: Selection & Interview: Submit your application by the October deadline. If shortlisted, you will undergo semi-finalist interviews in January and finalist interviews in March.
