Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Alexander M. and June L. Maisin Foundation Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Academic Enrollment: Must be a high school senior currently attending a school within the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).
Academic Standing: A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required, making it accessible to a wide range of students.
Educational Goals: Must plan to enroll full-time in an accredited community college, four-year university, or vocational school in the USA.
Financial Need: Candidates must demonstrate a significant financial need through their FAFSA or CA Dream Act documentation.
Citizenship: Open to Domestic Students (including U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Dreamers).
Community Commitment: Applicants should show a desire to give back to their community.
Application Process
Step 1: SF Foundation Portal: Visit the official San Francisco Foundation website and create an account on the Maisin Scholarship portal.
Step 2: Personal Statement: Write a compelling essay (300-500 words) about your background, the challenges you’ve overcome, and how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals.
Step 3: Document Upload: Submit your latest high school transcripts, a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR), and at least one Letter of Recommendation from a teacher or counselor.
Step 4: Interview & Award: Semi-finalists may be invited for a brief interview. Final selections are usually announced in the spring. Submit all materials before the mid-February 2026 deadline.
